Once again, I come with responses to articles from the Springfield News-Sun concerning the Northeastern Local School District. These responses are from the article dated July 26, 2010 from Megan Gildow's article "Northeastern disputes flier's info". Unlike previous comments and questions, I will respond to those that are legitimate and not redundant.
As always, I am speaking on my behalf, not the board's. I recommend that the reader validate my statements so as to ascertain that I am responding with the truth.
Let me preface by saying the number of comments broke all previous records, therefore I cannot respond to everyone, however, I will respond to those who seem legitimate, misinformed and not factual. There were many that were very supportive for which I commend you for being factual, informed and willing to speak up. I was embarrassed by some comments as they reflect on the character, knowledge and integrity of this school district. To those from other districts, I apologize for the lack of respect shown to one another and the attacks of those who wish not to be informed and respectful. These are not representative of the people in the Northeastern Local School District.
"I'm voting no, again, but that flier was crazy! So much inaccurate information, especially about the 3 month vacation for teachers. Just for the record, teachers are paid for usually 183 days a school year; their salary is distributed over a twelve month period. It is really important that every voter, no matter how you vote have ACCURATE information. Well atleast they spelled everything correctly.
NE Resident
9:33 PM, 7/26/2010"
NE Resident: thank you for your comment. First, I respect your choice and your right to be in opposition. Secondly, I respect that you recognized the inaccuracies in the fliers and the belief that every voter should be informed. I wish I understood your position against the levy, not that I may change your mind, but so I can understand your position.
"I am not a NE resident now but my 2 children did graduate from KR a few years ago. I would take issue with the need to re-build KRHS; a building only @ 30 yrs. old. If that building needs re-built, then someone did some pretty poor planning and wasted a lot of taxpayer money!
Everyone needs to remember that the Ohio School Facilities Commission is NOT about Education! It is about contractors, attorneys, building supply co., etc. making money.
KR dad
10:05 PM, 7/26/2010"
KR dad: thank you for your comment. First, we are not re-building KR. We are remodeling it to accommodate 5-8 grades. There is a difference in the makeup of middle school and high school buildings. Secondly, as far as poor planning, when the building was constructed it was done so for 1976 not 2010. There was very limited technology (if any existed) and it was done much differently than is required today. OSFC is not in the "money making" business. They are the agency created to handle and distribute the tobacco funds for the construction of schools in Ohio.
"Thanks Mr.Kadel for clarifying facts for us taxpayers in NELSD. Maybe if you and other board members had been more cooperative with home owners in this district, previous elections would have passed. That is the issue taxpayers don't believe your facts, don't feel tax dollars have been spent well. And you continue to not understand hardships families face to survive. And to those who might say, "then move" shame on you! Awaiting election outcome.
Lulu51
10:35 PM, 7/26/2010"
Lulu51: thank you for your comment. I apologize if I've been uncooperative with the residents in the past. I have tried to be open, honest and transparent with all business of the district. We make meetings available for people to comment, ask questions and voice their opinion. So often, no one shows up except for those who support the schools. I truly understand hardships as my hours were cut in half from last September until this past April. I am currently on reduced hours where I work and have not had a raise in 4 years. I do understand hardships. As I would state to many who are seeking to try to change the board and the way schools are run.....looking forward to seeing you on the ballot for school board on the 2011 election for board member. There will be two vacancies.
"An intersting statistic would be the present average annual salary of NESD graduates that graduated between 1970 and 2000. Based on the districts inability to pass school levies, I would expect that average salary would be much lower than say Beavercreek, Bellbrook, the Lakotas, etc. Education in this district is a very low priority; and it shows.
Northeastern Grad
10:51 PM, 7/26/2010"
Northeastern Grad; thank you for your comment. You are correct, "Education in this district is a low priority" for many until they are directly effected.
"i believe that mr kadel is not looking at the TOTAL cost to the homeowner - the figure of $8000-$20000 is probably NOT FAR OFF THE MARK considering the letter did not SAY YEARLY COST - it is speaking of the overall cost of this levy - which will probably be a great deal more than that when everything is said and done since mr kadel and his board are so negligent about upkeep - replace kadel and his croneys...
concerned resident
6:05 AM, 7/27/2010"
concerned resident: thank you for your comment. Based on the figure of a home valued at $100,000, the cost to a home owner would be $241.00 per year. Over the period of 28 years the cost would be about $6750.00. Yes, there will be those who will pay $8000 over a period of 28 years. The numbers 8000 to 20000 were not questioned as much as the implication many had that this was an annual cost. And yes you may replace me and the rest of the board through a process of recall, or by running against us in the next election. It is unfortunate that more people don't take the opportunity or won't take the chance to make a difference.
"Salary info is online at: http://buckeyeinstitute.org/ What turned people off at first was what "they" wanted not what "we" needed, now it's too late. Clark County has 7 districts with each having Supers,Assist-Supers office staff and everything that goes with 7 districts doing all the same thing. Northeastern has what 6or7 schools? What does a Super do having an Assist-Super and only having 6/7 schools to supervise. They never know any info nor publicize salaries when asked.
itstoolate
6:50 AM, 7/27/2010"
itstoolate: thank you for your comment. All you have to do is ask. The information is public knowledge...nothing to hide. Why don't you come to a board meeting and ask the questions? Why don't you go on line and get the information. It is readily available. Then you will have the information you want.
"putting something on a ballot that must be paid over 28 years is crazy. what happens when and if properity values goup, you will end up paying more. i could see a 5 or 7 year measure, but 28, get real.
jeff h.
6:56 AM, 7/27/2010"
jeff h.: thank you for your comment. Putting a bond issue on the ballot for 28 years is best to keep the cost per household as low as possible. Secondly, if property values rise the schools do not get more money. When you vote certain millage, it is for a certain amount of money. If your property value goes up, your effective millage goes down. The school gets no more money. Likewise if more people move into the district, the schools get no more money. Instead, more families share in the cost of the amount of dollars voted in. Please refer to House Bill 920 for clarification or contact the Ohio Department of Education, your legislator, Auditor or any organization involved in school funding. Ask them about the "reduction factor" from HB 920. If we put the issue on for 5-7 years, people could not afford the cost to their property taxes.
"It is time for new school board members and new administration in the Northeastern District. The ones we have now have lost touch with reality. They have good paying jobs and forget the many of us out here who have lost ours. Most of us cannot afford the extra $300-400 a year that this extravagant levy will cost each family. There will be 2 no votes coming from this household. Please vote no.
JT
7:30 AM, 7/27/2010"
JT: thank you for your comment. Actually the time to replace three of the members was last November when there were three vacancies on the board and only three people ran. The next time will be in 2011 when two vacancies will be available. Hope to see your name on the ballot.
"Northeastern voters need to wake up! This district has a history of not supporting it's schools. None of us want to pay more taxes, but for the future of our children and our community THIS TAX IS A NECESSITY! My last child will be a junior and will not attend the new buildings, but that doesn't matter. What is important here is that the children of this community need to be on the same playing field as those with which they will compete at the college level. PLEASE VOTE YES ON AUGUST 3RD!!!!
Susan Taylor
8:33 AM, 7/27/2010"
Susan Taylor: thank you for your comment. Basically I want to thank you for having the courage to give your name. Thank you for your support.
"The vote is still no,I beleive the imfo passed out is correct. They keep saying only 241.00 on a 100 thousand house, now get real how many are out there at that value so add some more tho that. Also i'm sick of the teachers on facebook trying to get yes votes when the teachers in question don't even live in the district,so they can't vote.they are only thinking of themselves.Add the 241.00 plus over 28years and you'll see the letter is correct.VOTE NO.VOTE NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no no no
8:47 AM, 7/27/2010"
no no no: thank you for your comment. The $241 per year is correct. If you multiply $241 times 28 years you still get $6750, actually $6748.00.
"Why doesn't the district include salary data on all its employees in the little propaganda pamphlets it sends out?
They always seem to be very vague and want to change the subject whenever anyone mentions salaries.
Bo
9:53 AM, 7/27/2010"
Bo: thank you for your comment. Salaries are public record. All you have to do is go to the Ohio Department of Education Website and get any salary you wish. All you have to do is call the board of education office and ask. There is no deep dark secret we are trying to hide. Anyone who has asked me, I will be more than happy to get them the information.
"I am tired of hearing about this in the Paper, Internet, signs & Meetings everywhere. NELSD Guess what? You Failed @ The Levy and Your Failing @ Life, Get new Administration and a real plan and maybe youd get some "YES" votes. Im just Sorry All the Kids have to suffer cause you Dont know how to do your jobs Effectively.
Tired of NELSD
10:22 AM, 7/27/2010"
Tired of NELSD: thank you for your comment. I am looking forward to you running for the board of education next election in 2011. You will then be able to make the difference you want to make and you can do the job effectively.
"Thank you I can help,I to have a smile on my face. It's not a matter of I HAVE to stay in my home,it's a matter of I want to stay in my home.Kids are a concern to me and I supported the school for a good number of years and now being on a fixed income it is time for others to support there kids.I feel a person that has worked and now is retired that payed all those years should be taxed different once they have no children in school. But then anything I say you will not agree with,my vote is NO!!
NO NO NO
10:46 AM, 7/27/2010"
NO NO NO: thank you for your comment. Unfortunately in Ohio, this is how the process works. I agree with you since my kids are also grown and on their own. However, in this state schools are partially funded by property taxes. Senior Citizens do get the Homestead exemption of 25%, however, part of the process is sharing in the funding of schools. If you don't like it, please help to change it. Don't jeopardize the children's education.
"I'm tired of hearing about our property values going down...if our property taxes keep going up we will not be able to give our homes away. If our schools are so bad, why is KR rated an excellent school. Thank you to some great teachers for that, not the surroundings. Remember, if the levy passes then we need an operating levy...just ask Mr. Kadel about that. If you're smart you will be putting money away for your child's college education. Now that's investing in your child's future!!!
Northridge Resident
10:57 AM, 7/27/2010"
Northridge Resident: thank you for your comment. I agree that KR is rated excellent. It is largely due to excellent teachers. Put those same teachers into schools with technology, better security, better facilities and see what will happen. And yes, we will be needing an operating levy at some point in the future. It will be a result of inflation and the state cutting education funding. This has never been denied. In fact we've told people this at all of our Community Meetings. Before planning your children for college, you had better be sure they can compete in college by getting a quality education in high school.
"For a School district that is so in need of money, they sure have the $$$ to waste on levys and meetings, those things arent free, and all the Represenitives from the schools that attended the meetings also put time sheets in for their time to get paid for the meeting, If theyre so proactive and for the school passing the levy then why didnt they help the school save some $$$ by volunteering their time to answer the residents questions??
FACT
11:00 AM, 7/27/2010"
FACT: thank you for your comment. Sir or Madam......I hate to tell you that those school administrators, teachers and staff who attend board meetings do not get extra pay or fill out any time sheets. Board members get $125.00 per board meeting that is used to offset our expenses throughout the month for travel, being inconvenienced when we are out to dinner with our wives and someone has a complaint, when we are home and the phone rings at dinner because someone's son isn't the starting player on the team and they want the coach fired, when we get a call late at night because some child has been injured or worse in a wreck, when we have to go to Columbus or Washington DC to discuss educational issues with our legislator and have to take personal vacation from our regular job....should I go on? No we do not get paid to attend community meetings and take verbal abuse from people who refuse to listen to the facts or want to accuse us of wasting money without providing any specifics. I guess you hit a nerve.
"I am voting No on the Northeastern School District Levy, there has got to be a different way to find our schools with property taxes. Its getting ridiculous.
Iron Maiden
11:13 AM, 7/27/2010"
Iron Maiden: thank you for your comment. I totally agree. Since I've served on this board of education I've been to Columbus regularly to discuss school funding with our legislators. We need people who are willing to stand behind me and other board members across this state and demand something be done or else get new legislators. Will you help????? Email me at leonardkadel@nelsd.org
"Beware...the truth is that the levy passing is just the beginning. Once the levy is passed the district will need an operating levy too. They don't talk about that unless you ask them directly. They are devious by omission! Dear NELSD...please put all your cards on the table so residents can make a sound decision based on the TRUTH. I can't afford an operating levy too!
The Truth
11:14 AM, 7/27/2010"
The Truth: thank you for your comment. We have never denied that there will be an operating levy. Common sense will tell you that inflation and the legislature's cutting of school funding will cause it to happen.
"I always vote no for the schools for several reasons. One reason is I cannot afford to pay any more. But I also strongly feel that the STATE needs to fix the whole system. The schools should be supported thru a sales tax so that the burden is spread out evenly. The home owners are maxed out! People who rent should have to help pay for the schools. And the landlords can only charge just so much rent so they get stuck in the middle.
Fix it
11:29 AM, 7/27/2010"
Fix it: thank you for your comment. I totally agree. Fixing school funding will not happen until the people get behind school boards across the state and get the message to the legislature. This won't happen because it is easier to complain and say "we" need to do something, when in fact they mean "someone else" needs to do something. I've been advocating fixing school funding to the Governor, Legislature and ODE since I've been on this board for the past 17 years and can't get anyone to support me by writing letters, calling and emailing those who can do something.
"I am concerned about sending my child to school in this district. Not everyone can afford going elsewhere, but this is serious. My children's safety is being compromised and the administrators and teachers are openly admitting that. There is something seriously wrong with this picture.
wow
2:17 PM, 7/27/2010"
wow: thank you for your comment. I hope you are a registered voter and willing to get out and vote. Security is a serious problem, but unfortunately too many people still live in the 60's when this wasn't a problem
"I did my part I bought a Lottery ticket. Good luck NELSD. But the lotto advertises that they several millions go to the schools, so I helped fund that, and thats all your getting from me. Have a great day
Gift to NELSD
2:41 PM, 7/27/2010"
Gift to NELSD: thank you for your comment. Please understand that when the Lottery first came into being, the Legislature guestimated how much the proceeds from the lottery would be generated. They took this amount away from education and gave it to entitlements such as Medicaid and other entitlements. Their reasoning was that the lottery would help fund schools. They didn't tell the people that they were taking a large sum of funding away so the lottery could supplement education. After many years, the lottery can no longer say it is used to fund education. Please get the facts.
"I was just past South Vienna school and all the parking lots have been newly paved and lined. Now if it is a yes vote, why would you do that when you are going to tear the school down...what a waste of money just like everything else you do.But since the vote will be No...I guess you did the right thing.
?????
3:34 PM, 7/27/2010"
?????: thank you for your comment. This has been in the Permanent Improvement budget for some time. If the levy passes in August, we are still 36 to 48 months before the schools will be completed. The driveway and parking lot at SV is in bad shape and needed redone.
"Mr. Kadel said most of the employees who make more than $60,000 a year are administrators. I went to www.buckeyeinstitue.com and checked two teachers salaries. They each make $73,836.00 a year. In an email I received today about the levy it said there had been no merit increases for 2 years. However, both of the above teachers salaries were increased every year since 2004. Maybe these were not merit increases but cost of living increases--I will vote no on August 3rd.
District resident
3:55 PM, 7/27/2010"
District resident: thank you for your comment. Sir or Madam. Mr. Kadel (that's me) said I didn't have the figures for all of the district when I was questioned by the reporter. I said our administrators fit into the category of those earning over $60,000. If you go to the website of www.buckeyeinstitue.com, be sure you get the figures for our Northeastern Local School District. There are three districts in Ohio that use the name Northeastern Local School District. One is in the Cincinnati area, one is in the northeast part of Ohio and the third one is ours.
"My home is valued at well over 400K in the tax logs - I could sell it for what, maybe 300K on a good day - prices are dropping, but not the tax valuations. This levy would cost me then over 27K over the 28 years - my kids went to private schools so they could get a good education and succeed in college and after, which they did. This pitifully mismanged district has gotten about everything wrong and mishandled each failed levy - each preplaned failure wasted even more money - enough already!
NE homeowner
4:53 PM, 7/27/2010"
NE homeowner; thank you for your comment. I would be interested in hearing more of what we have done wrong fiscally. Please come to the next meeting in August and present your findings so we can discuss.
"Forgot to mention that AGAIN, I repeat that as long as KR, Rolling Hill, Northridge are part of this district, NO VOTES EVERY TIME from me. Southeastern only has 2 schools & do NOT carry the south end of Springfield. Northeastern shouldn't have to carry the north end of Springfield. Overcrowding isn't going to go away til they do away with open enrollment. Only those living in this district should attend our schools. Those people should move out here & pay same as all of us.
Overtaxed #2
6:56 PM, 7/27/2010"
Overtaxed #2: thank you for your comment. Just to inform you about Open Enrollment kids...we get full funding for each one. You are correct about putting information in the newspaper box. Those distributing the information was putting the information inside mailboxes and nailing signs onto utility poles. That is illegal! The information is also false.
"I always vote no. The treasurer makes way too much money with the retire and rehire. She is probably pulling off 165 thousand a year. We also have an assistant treasurer. But I am going to vote yes. This is the same thing that happened when they needed to build KR. If the money goes away, we will all pay more down the road. they did what they said they would. KR will not be torn down. Pay now or pay later. They need new schools, so get over it. then complain about the treasurer making too much.
tea anyone?
7:57 PM, 7/27/2010"
tea anyone?: thank you for your comment. First, the treasurer makes $96,000. The retirement is hers to collect. Just like other public employees, retire / rehire is not illegal. It is also a source of additional funding for schools. Thank you for your support.
"JC, my grandparent was a postmaster & funny only thing that is crime is OPENING A MAILBOX & PUTTING SOMETHING IN IT if you aren't delivering stamped mail. Many political fliers & shoppers & etc do hang on the OUTSIDE of the mailbox. I think u folks against people like us are just P.O. & wished little people like us would just shut up. This is reason I don't attend meetings as I learned years ago, the board don't give a rats behind about those disagreeing with them. Get over yourself...JC WHOEVER
Me again
8:10 PM, 7/27/2010"
Me again: thank you for your comment. I hate to break this to you, but there were many fliers that were put into the mail boxes. These people were caught doing it. We have license plate numbers and pictures. They have been reported. It is illegal. And by the way, I personally enjoy a good opposition. It only proves what people don't know.
"Please quit hiring retirees back. The treasurer is probably making $165 between NE and her retirement. Please give some of our college grads a chance to find a job, they have student loans to pay off. There is something to be said for fresh minds. NE is in a rut with the same old people & the same old way of doing business. The BD & Admin have an alliance that covers for each other at any expense!!! Move out and give our young people a chance. Thanks for your service Mr. Kadel, but you too!
Tired of Retired Rehires
10:55 AM, 7/28/2010"
Tired of Retired Rehires: thank you for your comment. Without getting into a long discussion, let me say that retire / rehire is not illegal. It saves the district money. I do not feel that I or anyone "owes" a new person my job or position, they need to earn it just like I did. As a board member, when I can retain highly qualified, talented, knowledgeable and loyal people for less money I will support it. I'm only one vote. If you want it changed, then you and two others who support your belief, need to run for school board and make the change.
"Do we need an Asst Super, an Asst Treasurer, an HR position. Cut the FAT from the top...too many Chiefs & not enough Indians! Our principals make $90,000 & up. We spend $200,000 on coaching salaries alone. Show us some major efforts on your part to cut spending to a min. before you expect the community to payup! Mr. Kadel what cuts have been made to reduce the district expenses. $48,000 for an HR position could certainly pay for some needed repairs! When times are tough, we must make tough cuts!
Cut Out The Fat
11:41 AM, 7/28/2010"
Cut Out The Fat: thank you for your comment. Yes, we do need these positions for a district as large as ours. With the mandates from the ODE and the legislature, it is necessary to handle all of the reporting and supervising that is required. Cost savings????? Let's start with not filling many positions due to retirement. When Mr. Broderick came in as Superintendent, we eliminated the Curriculum Director's position. This job was absorbed by the assistant Superintendent and from services by the Educational Service Center. We have not paid our people raises in the past two years. When the Springfield City Schools built new schools, Mr. Broderick purchased badly needed furniture from the Springfield City Schools. He purchased around $400,000 worth of furniture for aroung $20,000 (that alone is a $320,000 cost savings! To f
"I would really like to know the total cost to the school district for the promotion of this levy. If anyone would care to share this information I would be grateful. I suspect the money would have gone a long way for repairs. I am sure someone will be happy to answer my question. In these difficult times for all of us every dollar should be accounted for and spent wisely. I hope this is the case.
Just Curious
11:57 AM, 7/28/2010"
Just Curious: thank you for your comment. The cost for the February ballot was $1,000 per precinct. The cost of this levy will be $1000 per precinct. All other costs for advertisement will be paid from community donations and fund raising. I don't know the amount. If you contact Mrs. Linda Jordan, the campaign treasurer, she can provide you that figure. The money donated by the residents and supporters would not purchase the paint for one of our buildings.
"Who are you JC? What's your name? You must be a board member or board employee with nothing constructive to do with your time except watch for comments that don't agee with yours/boards. Life must be good with a job like that! I'm a Northridge parent and I agee we need new schools, but I also feel that the board has NOT made any substantial budget cuts to help alleviate the financial stess our district is experiencing. Show me a sincere effort on better money management and I will vote yes!
What's Your Name JC"
4:43 PM, 7/28/2010"
What's Your Name JC: thank you for your comment. Let me say that JC is a regular attendee to our board meetings. He asks a lot of questions, gets information, checks the facts of what we say, and then questions us again. It is amazing how informed a person can become by fulfilling their obligation as voters in the district.
"I wonder how many teachers in the NESD live in the district and pay property taxes here like the rest of us. I know many are pushing for the passage of this levy. How much will it cost them ?
Interested voter
8:28 PM, 7/28/2010"
Interested voter: thank you for your comment. Very good question. I know there are a lot of our teachers who are graduates of NEHS and KRHS, but I don't know the exact number. Many of our employees are residents of the district.
"Yeah what a great point to bring up, an excellent excuse to VOTE NO. I'm sure the teachers are not paying school taxes which support the schools in their district of residence. Excellent reason to VOTE NO.
Interested Voter
8:45 PM, 7/28/2010"
Interested Voter: again, thank you for your comment. Are you saying that if a teacher doesn't live in the Northeastern district that they don't pay property tax to the district they live in????? How absurd
"I am sure Northeastern and Kenton Ridge High Schools both have Industrial Arts Classes. Maybe the students in these classes could do some of the repairs needed. I am sure the teachers might even do some in the summer months when they have free time. Any takers ?
New Idea
12:14 PM, 7/29/2010"
New Idea: thank you for your comment. Many of the maintenance issues we have require more qualified people to repair or replace the item. It is a good thought though. The only other problem is the time our students are in the particular class. I would rather they get educated and experienced on more modern problems than old worn out ones.
"Greed is right! It's IRONIC that NE only hires 1st yr teachers to save money, but they REHIRE asst supers, treas, principals, librarians, etc. to save money. The community is not stupid. The only thing we believe is they're dbl dipping & living a life of LUXURY! They're no longer VESTED in NE, ONLY in themselves, & they are at the top of the salary schedule...TOO FUNNY! The community wants RETIREES TO GO so NE can start saving money. Savings on your benefits is minimal your salary is killing us!
One Question
12:49 PM, 7/29/2010"
One Question: thank you for your comment: It is better to hire a new teacher with new ideas, techniques and enthusiasm for less money. As far as administrators it is different. There is much more demands on administrators, more skill, knowledge, talent and above all loyalty when dealing in school issues. I can gauarantee the lifestyle of an administrator is more rigid than you think. Please come to a board meeting and address this issue with others.
"They're almost advertising this levy as a sale. It's like buying something you don't need because it's on sale when you can't afford it. AND taking a loan out to get it. You have to pay for it over 28 years.
I agree with Former NE Student. Better teachers are needed, not a new building. And JC, that article is probably written by the government. Think about the people who are going to lose their homes and farms because they can't pay this much extra. Have a heart and use your mind. Vote no. :)
Educated Consumer :)
1:04 PM, 7/29/2010"
Educated Consumer: thank you for your comment. In reality, this is a sale! we get 41% off the price of new buildings. But the bigger question is.....do we need new buildings? Have you been in SV, NR, NE lately? As far as people loosing their farms and homes. Do you really believe that someone will loose their home over an additional $20 a month/????
"ASK MR. KADEL WHERE HE HID THE DOORS AND TELL HIM TO PUT THEM BACK! Where are the doors then? They were there when I was there. Why don't we look at Shawnee? They have an older building from around the same time, and look at their education level! It's so so so much higher than Northeastern! And KR was built in the 70s so it's even newer! I would be more afraid of the teachers molesting your children and not another Columbine. NO NEW BUILDINGS! NEW TEACHERS!
Hey Mr. Kadel!
1:16 PM, 7/29/2010"
Hey Mr. Kadel!: thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, I didn't hide the doors...never had any from the beginng. The doors being discussed are the ones in the SV building and he RH building that was made in the mid 70's as a result of the "open classroom" concept that proved to be a bad idea. We haveput up walls but unable to have doors in these classrooms.
As far as teachers molesting children and another Columbine, I would not want neither.
